Emotional Intelligence Course

Emotional Intelligence is a concept that has been around for several decades and focuses on a person's ability to be aware of, control, and express their emotions. Police Officers with emotional intelligence handle interactions with the public and their co-workers more thoughtfully and empathetically and can influence the emotions of others. Police Evolution’s Emotional Intelligence course will train officers of every level on:

Implicit Bias Education

Implicit Bias education helps officers understand how unconscious and unintentional biases can affect their interactions with the public and each other. Police Evolution Implicit Bias education reinforces the investigative skills that officers already possess, and equips them with additional skills to strengthen relationships with the communities they serve and emphasizes a fair and impartial policing for everyone.

Servant Leadership for Police

This 3-day course provides 20 hours of Servant Leadership training to future and current first-level and mid-level supervisors. This course provides supervisors with knowledge, and skills that will enhance their ability to supervise, motivate, and evaluate officers and meet the unique challenges presented to today's police leaders.

Building Relationships in Our Communities

Course is designed to enhance police and community relations. Students will develop skills to enhance relationships with community members and public officials while continuing to build rapport and strengthen relationships with other law enforcement agencies and their personnel. Students will be given guidance and best practice on how to engage community members utilizing modern technology and social gatherings. The importance of media relations and interagency transparency along with public education of law enforcement operations will be discussed.

Slavery and its impact on present day law enforcement

This course will explore the connection between law enforcement, slavery, and race in the United States, from a historical perspective. During the course, participants will consider the origins of policing in the United States, as well as, the laws, politics and culture which fostered slavery. We will examine how these constructs influenced policing in the United States. This course will begin with the early American criminal justice system, slave patrols and/or guards. The course concludes with an examination and discussion of current trends and issues facing law enforcement and the overall disconnect between an overwhelming number of minorities and their perception of law enforcement today based on a historical perspective.
